Alijah Gulamhussein Gulamani was born in Dar es Salaam on June 15, 1933. He did his schooling in then Tanganyika and got married to Khatoon Rawji in 1954. Alijah had an entrepreneurial career in Tanzania and was active in the community in various institutional and Jamati positions. He was Kamadiasaheb 1984-1987 of Darkhana Jamatkhana in Dar es Salaam. Alijah Gulamhussein Gulamani's interest in ginan recitation started in 1982 when he recited his first ginan. Over the next 3 decades he would record and distribute his audio cassettes and CDs to Jamati members. He moved to USA in the year 2000 and continued reciting ginans at the Santa Clara (San Jose) Jamatkhana where he was very popular with the local Jamat, especially for his recitation of Aasmani Tambal ginan by Pir Sadardin. Alijah Gulamhussein Gulamani passed away in 2015 and it was his profound wish that the family do whatever it can to promote community artists and devotional songs tradition in the Jamat. The JollyGul Platform was launched in his memory by his USA-based family with powerful guiding force and inspiration of his wife Khatoon Gulamani.
