I started reciting ginans at the age of 6 and have continued to do so ever since. While growing up in Ottawa, Ontario, my parents were my biggest supporters when it came to learning ginans and their meanings. Every few weeks my mother would sit me down and teach me a new ginan, and so began the formation of my own personal library of ginans. My interest in ginans led me to also begin training professionally in Indian classical and Western classical music. To me, Ginans represent togetherness, love and an opportunity to express ourselves creatively. Furthermore, the historical significance of our ginans is fascinating and a beautiful part of the evolution of our community.
