I have been mesmerized by ginans ever since I was born. My father played the harmonium. Both he and my grandfather would sing ginans, shan-e-karim geets and songs. My mother would sing ginans as lullaby. As a result, my interest in ginans grew so much that I would think about ginans, whistle ginans and sing ginans while doing any tasks like walking or playing on the swing; or helping mom with minor house chores. I tried to learn the meanings and act on them. My parents made sure I didn't forget the Gujarati alphabet I learnt in grade I; so, I am now able to go through ginans that are only available in Gujarati which can offer correct pronunciation and a bigger variety. Because of this advantage, I have explored some ginans that are not commonly sung and have recorded 3 cds of 30 ginans with music. Having grown up with music, I know a thing or two about the impact of correct raga on one's emotions.
