Huzur Mukhi Abdulrasul Nasser was born in Nairobi, Kenya and developed an interest in ginans at a very young age. He later moved to Nyambiti, Tanzania and then Mwanza, Tanzania where he was intermittently Jamati Mukhisaheb and was renowned for his ginan recitation. In the early 70s, he moved to Toronto and continued to recite in Willowdale, Bayview and Unionville Jamatkhanas. His daughter Farzana lovingly worked to record and preserve his recitations, creating 11 albums entitled 'Pearls of Devotion'. Of the hundreds of ginans he could recite, only 104 were recorded and graciously form part of the University of Saskatchewan Ginan collection. His love of the rich tradition of Ginans endured throughout his life and he continued to recite with his same sincere devotion until his final days. He shared this love of recitation with his son, daughters and grandchildren, a tradition they continue to hold dear in his memory.
