I was born and raised in Ahmedabad, India, and currently reside in Kirkland, Washington, where I attend the Seattle Jamatkhana. My journey with ginans began at the age of four, when my father, Amir Ali Kabani, an accomplished ginan reciter, and folk singer, taught me my first ginan. Under his guidance and mentorship, I not only learned to recite ginans but also to understand the deeper meanings and the ragas that bring them to life. Throughout my childhood and young adult years, I participated in regional and national devotional expressions programs, and eventually became a national master trainer for ginans under the mentorship of Alwaez Babul. After moving to the U.S., I continued my learning with Taufiq Karmali, with whom I have also collaborated on albums such as Ilm-e-Haqiqat and Ilm-e-Marifat. I have been blessed to perform at ginan and geet mehfils at the Ismaili Centre in Vancouver and the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto. One of my most cherished moments was reciting ginan in the huzur of Mawlana Shah Karim Al-Husseini during the Golden Jubilee Darbar in Los Angeles. I am humbled and grateful to be part of this beautiful tradition and look forward to continuing to share and record more ginans.
