With Mawla's grace, I have been composing, singing and performing Ginan, Geets in Mawla Ji Shaan, Qawali and Sufic Music across a variety of musical platforms, for the past 3 decades. Born and raised in Karachi Pakistan, my love for learning and reciting Ginans began at the age of 7 by participating in Ginan competitions. At the age of 14, my official training started with Marhum Rai Jaffersadiq Surmawalla of Dharkhana (Garden) Jamatkhana in Karachi. After moving to Canada in 1979, I continued my training with Alwaez Shamshu Bandali in Edmonton and in 1997, released my first Ginan album (Volumes of Ilm e Ginan and Anant Akhado) and have continued to release more albums since then. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge of Ginan and dedicate my time to coaching, training and teaching Jamati member of all ages, backgrounds and regions. I have been invited to prepare Ginan reciters for various jamati devotional events, festivities, Ginan-e-Mehfils and volunteer time towards teaching weekly Ginan classes and coaching BUI students. I am humbled and honored for the beautiful opportunities I have had to perform globally.
