I was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya. I started reciting Ginans at the age of 16. My mother Daulat Kassim-Lakha was my inspiration and taught me how to recite. I have been given the most wonderful opportunity to have recited in the presence of Mawlana Hazar Imam when I was 20 years old in Nairobi. I have also taken part in a few Ginan competitions and Ginan/Geet Mehefils in Nairobi, Vancouver and Toronto. In 2003 I went to Agra, India to produce my first Ginan CD with music. The music has been arranged and compiled by Sudhir Narain who is an accomplished Ghazal Singer internationally at his studio "Harmony Studio" in Agra. All my albums can be listened to or downloaded from my website: www.nargisbalolia.com and am also on Spotify. Jollygul.com has also reproduced some of my Ginans with beautiful video settings which can be viewed on YouTube.
