My interest, understanding, and love of ginans started in my early childhood. I was taught ginans by my parents, both of whom have beautiful voices. Back in Tanzania, the practice and understanding of daily religious ceremonies including ginans was part of our religious education classes. I also had great mentors who taught me several ginans I continue to sing today. I have always loved singing, and I feel grateful to have had continued support, training, and knowledge from my parents, teachers, and mentors. During my ginan singing journey, I have been blessed to be part of multiple ginan mehfils. Reciting and listening to Ginans gives me peace and joy as it touches my heart and soul. Finally, understanding the messages behind the ginans inspires me to stay on Siratal Mustaqeem (the right path).
