I had interest in Ginans since my childhood when I learned most of the Ginans. My father and mother both knew almost all the Ginans by heart. Being fond of singing, dancing and music, Ginan recitation was in my blood. After I became a fulltime Al-waeza with ITREB Pakistan more than five decades ago, my involvement with Ginan work increased manifold. As part of my professional work, ITREB Pakistan assigned me, along with my husband Kamaluddin and a couple of other senior colleagues, the task of promoting the Ginan literature in the Jamat that resulted in teaching Ginans in traditional tunes to hundreds of students through the platform of ITREB Ginan Group of Pakistan. Many of those students are now teaching Ginans in various parts of the world. We also produced a number of volumes of translations of Ginans and Granths, both in Urdu and English, which are widely used in the Jamat. We have also recorded all the Ginans and samples of all the Granths in traditional tunes. It gave me immense happiness to see many of my students recite Ginans in the presence of Mawlana Hazar Imam during Golden and Diamond Jubilee Darbars. The most memorable moment of my life was the opportunity to recite Ginan in the presence of Mawlana Hazar Imam in his residence at Aiglemont on the occasion of Silver Jubilee Darbar on July11, 1982.
