Born in Iringa, Tanzania, grew up in Nairobi, Kenya where I did my schooling. Studied Medicine at the University of Nairobi. Practiced Family Medicine and was a Faculty member at the University of Nairobi where I taught for 10 years and earned a PhD in Human Anatomy from the University of London. Was Chairman of the Aga Khan Health Committee, Nairobi, and served on the Welfare Committee. Started singing Ginans in primary school, inspired in part by my father, Alwaez Dr. Hassanali A. Walji. Was blessed to have had the opportunity to recite Ginan in Hazir Imam's Holy Presence three times. Was Mukhi Saheb at the University of Nairobi and Lenana High School Jamat Khanas. Currently am Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Alberta. Attend HQ and West Jamat Khanas. Very briefly, to me, Ginans are a means through which we can understand the message of the Holy Qur'an and get closer to the essence of the Divine, leading us to Salvation.
