Profile  Albums Ginans (2)

My beloved father Rai Jafer Sadiq Surmawala, who taught ginans for 33 years, was my inspiration, mentor and teacher from childhood. Hence, learning ginans became my passion. While I was growing up, ginans were also a part of our Religious Centre (currently BUI) syllabus and in each grade, we learned a minimum of 2-3 ginans. By secondary classes, the meanings of ginans were also introduced, which further developed my interest and strengthened my recitation through my understanding of the powerful meanings of ginans. It also enhanced my knowledge of our 'Deen', as our pirs so beautifully translated the Holy Quran in our language to help us understand the messages of Allah. Later, I also had the opportunity to be a ginan teacher in our Religious Centre for more than 15 years. I have also participated in various ginan mehfils in Pakistan and here in Canada.
