From humble beginnings in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania and dedicated teachers like Alwaeza Gulshan Alidina and Alwaezs Jahangir and Malek Merchant who exposed us to Ginanic knowledge at The Agakhan School from primary school. Sincere appreciation also to Late Mrs Paroo, our Matron at the Agakhan Hostel, Nairobi who convinced us to recite ginans. Ginans are not only a form of personal religious knowledge but they help transcend a person spiritually. An important part was Arzina Merali's tireless effort of recording and disseminating our wonderful tradition to the Global Jamat including myself who learned a lot of ginans from these recordings.
