Grew up in a small town, Masaka. Interest in ginans started since age 7. Ginans were recited at assembly in Agakhan primary Schools. My father and elder sister inspired me to learn and recite ginans and participate in Mushairas and local/National Waez & Ginan competitions. A very special mentor Shirin Bai Basaria conducted ginan classes at her home for interested youngsters at weekends. The raagas of ginans I learnt from her are consistent to this day ! I continued singing ginans in Jamat Khana nearly every other day, especially before Dua, starting with Arti Sehrnter Deep me Shah followed by Anant a khado- 4-5 verses. My Ginan recitals in Jk followed in consecutive years in UK, Pakistan, Canada and USA. It was in Karachi, Pakistan where I learnt the most Ginans which I feel very blessed about.Birthplace: Kampala,Uganda
