Profile Ginans (12)

My training was by Ustad Hafeez Ahmed Khan in Bombay and by Ustad Umrao Bundu Khan in Karachi. I started my professional career on Radio Pakistan at age 14 and performed commercial jingles on Radio and Television in Karachi and sang play-back in several Pakistani films. I had a monthly program on Dhaka radio and television. In 1963, 1964, 1970 and 1978 I had the opportunity to recite ginan in the presence of MHI, and geets for two hours at his request in 1970. At foundation stone laying ceremony for Darkhana JK in 1982 I was selected to sing O Canada. MHI selected Ali Charano Ma Che Apar Sukh for the Aiglemont Silver Jubilee film and my CD production was selected as the only official Golden Jubilee memorabilia and distributed to all jamats around the world. In 1959 the first geets were recorded on 78 r.p.m records and later recorded about 70 of Hassanali Ramal (Suman's) geets. Ali Anter Ma Mara became synonymous with Khushiali celebrations all over the world. Some others were Mag mag ta, Chando Malkai, Ek Var Mare Gamade, Akhi alam ma naam taru(n). During Silver Jubilee celebrations I sang geets in Canada, USA, UK, France, Dubai and Pakistan and at Golden Jubilee celebrations in Mozambique and Portugal. In addition, I sang a ginan as a participant in the Mystical Journey program in Canada. Three of my albums Prem Sandesh, Jubilee Tribute and Tarif-e-Imam were released during Silver Jubilee. I have taught ginans to children and adults in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Congo, Ivory Coast and Canada and trained many for recitation of ginans in the Huzur Pur Nur of MHI during his visit to Ivory Coast in 1998 and was administrator of religion classes in Bangladesh.
