I have so many fond childhood memories of my mother (Khursheed Nurali/Bhaloo) reciting ginans and geets, which were instrumental in nurturing a love for music and more specifically for ginan recitation. As a child, I learned from my mom, always inspired by her talent and creativity; she was instrumental in helping me recognize my voice as a gift and how to leverage it as vehicle through which to express my love for my faith. I'm grateful to my parents for my vocal training in Indian classical music, which has been instrumental in helping me enhance my ginan rendition. As a life-long learner I've always maintained a strong focus on my education and profession. Music and ginans offered comfort, joy and solace as I achieved my academic goals which included earning my Doctorate in Health Policy and Health Services Research. Participating in ginan recitation during the Golden and Diamond Jubilees are key memories that I will always cherish. It is my sincere desire to use my voice as a mechanism to serve Mawlana Hazar Imam and continue the family tradition initiated by my great grandmother.
